EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES
In 2014, 62.5 percent of the total incidents Nevada County Consolidated Fire Department ran were emergency medical calls. Nevada County Fire Department runs Basic Life Support or BLS care with all personnel being at least an Emergency Medical Technician or EMT.
With a growing elderly population in Nevada County and the new health care laws, demands on the emergency medical service are on the rise. To meet this increasing demand, Nevada County Consolidated Fire has begun an Advance Emergency Medical Technician or Advance EMT program to further increase our level of service. This programs allows all of our current licensed paramedics to practice higher levels of care like start IV’s, use certain medications and use glucose monitors.
