FIRE SUPPRESSION/OPERATIONS

The primary goal in Fire Suppression/Operations is to protect life, property and the environment. Nevada County Consolidated Fire District (NCCFD) personnel are well trained and equipped with the tools to successfully respond and mitigate emergencies.  Besides responding to fires, NCCFD responds to emergency medical service calls, technical rescues,  and vehicle accidents just to name a few.

On a reported structure fire in NCCFD’s jurisdiction, the closets 4 Engines and 1 Battalion chief are dispatched. If the structure fire is located in an area without fire hydrants, 1 Water Tender will also be dispatched. With only 7 staffed stations in the JOA, a structure fire can put a strain on resources available for response to new emergencies. To counter this problem NCCFD has Automatic Aid agreements with Penn Valley Fire, Higgins FPD, the Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit of CAL Fire, this allows for these other agencies to send resources to the incident or to cover NCCFD's stations to be ready for new incidents. In the event of a major fire or incident off-duty NCCFD personnel will be called back to staff stations to continue to provide a high level of service to the district and surrounding agencies.
